 | Hartley Morris Ring Meeting 2012 |
| | 17th to 29th July 2012 - Hartley Morris 60th Anniversary Ring Meeting, See the Hartley Morris Men's website on www.hartleymorrismen.org.uk
The 2012 format will remain basically the same as our usual annual Ale but we aim to increase the number of men and hopefully use a local school for accomodation. The aim is to tie on with Kents local Olympic events. We hope to see many of our old friends as well as sides who have not visited us before.

The Hartley Morris Men are one of some 200 member sides of the Morris Ring which is the National Association of Men's Morris and Sword Dance Clubs. The mission of the Morris Ring is to encourage the performance of Morris dancing, to maintain its traditions and preserve its history. Every year several Morris Ring Meetings are held, hosted by local clubs, and dancers from all over the country are invited to attend. Each Morris club has its own distinctive kit so the sight of several sides dancing together at a massed display is quite a colourful spectacle.
The 2009 Hartley Morris Ring Meeting The Morris Ring was formed in 1934, the same year as Hartley Morris Men’s predecessors the Stansted Morris Men and in 2009 we are celebrated this joint 75th anniversary by hosting the 318th meeting of the Morris Ring. Furthermore, in that year one of our members was elected as Squire of the Morris Ring and he presided as master of ceremonies during the weekend. He is pictured here and on the cover of our 2009 programme ‘dancing in’ at the Dartington Ring Meeting in 2008.
The event was based in our adopted home village of Wrotham from where tours of the local area emanated. The tours combined for a display by some 100 dancers at 6pm on the Saturday in West Peckham followed by two further massed displays on the Sunday at Ightham Mote and Wrotham Square.
In addition to the guest dancers who have chosen to attend our event we would like to thank in particular Goachers, Larkins and Millis’s breweries, Wrotham Parish Council, our vintage bus drivers, the National Trust, licensees/owners of all sites listed (especially Doug & Sue at our home pub the Rose & Crown) and you, the audience for supporting us.
